Scrumball Scrumball is a derivative of Rugby, also called episkyros, cnapan, campball or la soule. This will be a tag, or two-hand touch, game.
Off-Hand Terror Tourney Throughout the ages, fearing monsters and creatures of terror has been highly associated with childhood. As adults, we are expected to leave behind this fear and show our mastery of these feelings. Display your mastery of this terror by bringing your own item of terror to this tourney. This tourney will be double-elimination. Each fighter must display an item of terror in their off-hand. Examples include skeletal arms, monstrous horns and rabid bunnies.Historically, young adults have a tendency to display their new skills to each other, issuing duels, accepting duels, etc…. Here, a number of young adults have challeneged each other at the same time. Noone thought to have a weapon on hand when the issues were given or accepted. This is an open field every man for himself battle. The battle begins with the fighters formed in a circle. All the weapons will be heap-piled in the center of the circle. At 'lay on', the fighters will grab what weapons they can. No fighting will be permitted inside the circle.
Open Field Melee This melee will be a simple open field battle consisting of two teams. There will be no resurrections, and the participants will fight until one team has been eliminated.
Theatyn's Revenge Fool's War (and many other unfortunate events) have experienced Theatyn's highly accurate fighting scenarios. One could say that Fool's War itself has come into it's own around them. This melee recognizes that history. Throughout history, war has been important to culture, and in some cases, the results of certain battles have given direction to the culture itself. A number of these battles are closely linked to the city in (or near to) which they were fought. This is a half hour resurrection battle. Each team must fight for control of five cities. At irregular intervals, the marshal will call a hold and count the number of live fighters at each city (a spear length from epicenter of the city). The teams will earn a number of points for each fighter. Each city earns the team a multiplier based on location respective to the resurrection point. The team with the most number of points at the end of the hour wins. Each city earns an additional multiplier based on its relevance to history.
Ex: In Paris in 1789 was the French Revolution. So if we were to use this situation [which we're not] we would call a hold at 18:29 and give points. The fighters at Paris would earn double the points.
The cities referenced will be: Agincourt Hastings Mecca Runnymede Samarkand There will also be an additional hold time during the battle for extra points.
Storm the Gate This simple melee assumes an army is in the process of seiging an entrenched army at their castle. This siege is about to break with a small detachment of attacking army pressing into the front gates of the defending army. The attacking army will have to cross a small distance (break from the main force) and attack the front gate of the castle. The attacking force has 2 resurrections apiece, representing small levels of reinforcements arriving from the main force. This melee will be timed, and each team will have an opportunity to attack and defend.
Restricted Melee 1 Children often imitate their parents. Picking up sticks and pretending to go to war is a very common game for children to play. If one was to witness these children playing, they would not see any of these children with a large stick and pretend to wield it as a full spear. This will be an open field melee with no archery. Weapons will be shorter to or equal to 6'.
Restricted Melee 2 As children grow into their own, they will attempt to display feats of strength and ability to their friends and peers. Young adults will often show off when they are able. This will be an open field melee with no archery. Weapons will be longer than or equal to 6'.
Golden Ticket We all know the value of identification. A valid ID show you are able to engage in many rituals and activities that are withheld from children. But what happens if someone is holding your ID from you? Would you cross the widest rivers, enter an enemy's castle, fight his armies? The defending team first has five minutes to build their defenses. One hay bale is a short wall and may be fought over. Two hay bales or more is a tall wall and must be treated as such. The defending team cannot build a wall completely surrounding their ID; there must be a viable entrance. The attacking team crosses a ford; knights on their steeds may walk across, and everybody else has to wade through on their knees. Oh, if you've been fighting for 21 years, you get a by, and may walk across as well. Any fighter may temporarily become a mason and rebuild the defenses. He may only do this with two full-gauntleted hands grabbing the hay bale. He may not wield any weapon or shield while acting as a mason. The attacking force has two resurrections apiece. This melee will be timed, and each team will have an opportunity to attack and defend. The winning team will be the one who retrieves the ID in a shorter amount of time.
Pickups The field will open for pickup fighting. Time permitting, bridge battles and any other requests by fighters will be considered.
