On Friday evening, join us for our traditional Dirty Tricks Tournament with an Irish spin!
Ley of the Land (Irish Mythology) Two factions vie for spiritual control of Ireland. One faction tries to keep the "ley" lines of power intact while the other attempts to destroy them. This manifests itself as one team trying to remove the dragon eggs from their positions and the other trying to maintain them. Goal-Timed Resurrection ------------------------- Fall of the Scandinavian Ports (circa 960-1020) Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Werford, and Waterford were all seats of Scandinavian hegemony in Ireland. From the mid-ninth century, they had increasingly dominated Ireland, but beginning in the mid-tenth century, Irish leaders began a reconquest of these centers. This battle will focus on isolated Scandinavian teams facing a unified Irish army. The Scandinavians will be defending their walled towns and have boats. Limited Resurrection.
Laudabilister Bull (1167-1172) A papal bull issued in 1155 by the English Pope Adrian IV purported to give the Norman King, Henry II of England, lordship over Ireland and the right to invade. The goal was to bring the Irish Church in line with Rome. This scenario will have three parts: the landing, the advance, and the seige.
The Remonstrance of 1317 In 1315, Edward Bruce, brother of Robert the Bruce (King of Scotland), landed an army in Ireland to attempt to wrest control of the island from England and re-establish the office of High King. He quickly overwhelmed resistance had had defacto control of Ireland for nearly two years. However, IN 1317, after Pope John XXII rejected a request for a remonstrance of the Laudabilister of 1155, Edward's fortunes turned. This scenario involves the last battle of that campaign. Broken field, uneven resurrection. ---------------------- Hallows of Ireland (Irish Mythology) Four teams representing the four invasions of Ireland (Fir Bolg, Tuatha de Dannann, Formorians, Milesians) vie to control the resting places of four Hallows of Ireland: Lia Fail (Stone of Destiny), Spear Luin (Spear of Destiny), Claiomh Solais (Sword of Destiny), Coira Anseasc (Dagda's Cauldron). The items must be moved to tribal homelands. Once captured, a hold is called, and a limiting rule applied to the opposing teams.
Lia Fail (Stone of Destiny): Other teams' knights are traded for unbelted. Spear Luin (Spear of Destiny): Other teams lose all pole and mass weapons. Claiomh Solais (Sword of Destiny): Other teams lose any archers Coira Anseasc (Dagda's Cauldron): Other teams lose their resurrections
